CALIFORNIA GAMING ASSOCIATION AND KNIGHTED VENTURES RAISE $10,000 TO SUPPORT MILITARY FAMILIES AT ANNUAL MEETING & TRADE SHOW
Proceeds from CGA’s Annual Charity Poker Tournament Benefit Operation Homefront
SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Gaming Association (CGA), in conjunction with event sponsor and producer Knighted Ventures, today announced it raised over $10,000 to support military families through its annual charity poker tournament. All proceeds from the tournament benefit Operation Homefront, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is building strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive in the communities they have worked to protect.
The annual poker tournament was part of CGA’s Annual Meeting and Trade Show at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Lake Tahoe, where cardroom operators and vendors embraced the opportunity to help raise funds for military families in need.
“Cardrooms throughout the state have a long history of charitable giving and serving local communities through partnerships with non-profit organizations,” said CGA President Kyle Kirkland. “A number of cardroom owners and employees have served in the nation’s armed services and wanted to help their brothers and sisters return home from service. Operation Homefront seemed like the perfect choice for this year’s event.”
The sponsorship and support of Knighted Ventures for the charity poker tournament was critical to raising the $10,000 for military families.
“We are honored to support the men and women who serve in the military and their families and pleased to partner with CGA and Operation Homefront in hosting this worthy fundraiser,” said Megan Burnett of Knighted Ventures.
Operation Homefront provides key services to military families throughout the U.S., meeting immediate critical needs through financial assistance, transitional housing, and other services, while also long-term stability and support such as mortgage-free homes and other resources.
“We’re very appreciative of the California cardrooms, the California Gaming Association, and Knighted Ventures for their generous support of our holiday programs,” said Operation Homefront Nevada Executive Director Annie Baca. “Their contributions will help Operation Homefront build strong, stable, and secure military families so that they thrive – not simply struggle to get by – in the communities they’ve worked so hard to protect.”
