Sacramento, CA – Today, the California Gaming Association (CGA) announced that it raised $12,500 to support inclusive recreation for individuals with disabilities through its annual charity poker tournament, sponsored by Knighted Ventures. All proceeds from the tournament benefited Achieve Tahoe, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to empower lives through inclusive recreation for individuals with disabilities.

“The California cardroom industry has always been committed to giving back to the community and this event is a testament to that commitment,” said CGA President Kyle Kirkland. “We are proud to support Achieve Tahoe in its mission to empower individuals with disabilities through adaptive sports. Thank you to all the participants and sponsors who made this event possible.”

The annual poker tournament was a part of CGA’s Annual Meeting at the Edgewood Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe, where cardroom operators and vendors embraced the opportunity to help raise funds to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

“We are honored to support Achieve Tahoe’s mission to empower the lives of individuals with disabilities through adaptive support with this fundraiser,” said Roy Choi of Knighted Ventures.

Knighted Ventures sponsored and oversaw the charity poker tournament and were critical in selecting Achieve Tahoe as the charity of choice. Through the funds donated, Achieve Tahoe will be able to continue to serve over 400 individuals and provide valuable outdoor programming for individuals with disabilities.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of the California Gaming Association,” said Michael Hunter, Program Director at Achieve Tahoe. “We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the freedom of outdoor sports, and these funds will help expand our reach into the local community and serve more families.”

The CGA is the definitive voice of California’s cardroom industry, which plays a crucial role in driving community well-being statewide. With over 23,000 Californians employed, cardrooms provide stable, well-paying jobs and inject over $2 billion annually into the state’s economy, contributing substantial tax revenue to local communities and funding vital services like park maintenance, police, fire departments, and road repairs.
